How to Manage Flexibility in Contract Relationships

Organisational management has flexibility ‘built-in’ to its hierarchical command and control structure.

When organisations do things by contract they go outside this structure. However, ‘getting things done’ still needs flexibility.

Contract documents as plans are static. Performance goals in contracts are dynamic. Flexibility is essential if the contracting parties are to achieve their respective performance goals. However, achieving flexibility poses challenges for contract governance in both the planning (i.e. documentation) phase and operational phase of the contracting process.

These challenges are addressed and dealt with in this program.
